Golem (ゴーレム Gōremu) is a main protagonist along with his daughter, Somali in Somali and the Forest Spirit. He is a tall golem made of a stone-like material that watches over the forest as the forest guardian. One day, Golem finds Somali sheltering under a tree. When he finds Somali, she calls Golem her father, thus starting a long and difficult journey to find Somali's parents in a world of creatures preying on humans.
Appearance[]
He has a body of stone-like material woven together by some sort of string hidden beneath a cloth-like armor keeps him from falling apart, or being exposed to deadly situations.
Underneath the symmetrical line on his face is a large black and green eye that can analyze almost anything as long as it is not very well hidden.
Personality[]
Golems usually do not have any personality, but this Golem forms an emotional bond with Somali through his travels that enables him to have feelings of love, worry, and anger. He deeply cares for Somali's well-being, willing to do anything to protect Somali's smile.
History[]
Golem is the forest guardian of The Forest. Little is known about his life before meeting Somali other than his role to monitor the daily activities in the forest.
Story[]
The Forest and the Traveler's Village[]
The Golem is the guardian of the forest, existing to patrol the woods and ensure its continued survival. When his time comes he will also return to the earth, until one day everything changed.
Finding and looking after Somali, they have made their way through many cities before coming to the largest one yet. As they eat, he shares that they are searching for humans.
Fixing her minotaur outfit at an inn, he covers her mouth when he hears something. As she sleeps he considers the cracks in his arm.
After negotiating the sale of precious rocks, he notices Somali has gone missing and uses his golem eye to scan the city for her. He finds her before a False Cat can figure out she is human, and reminds her that others must not become aware of this.
The River and the Oni's Dwelling[]
Camping, he teaches Somali that striking starmaker rocks together can be used to create fire. He communicates with some horned rabbits to learn if there is a city in the region.
With Shizuno offering medicine, he follows him back to his house where Yabashira is also present. Golem offers a piece of himself to learn about medicine from Shizuno. Later at night he thanks them for giving Somali a room and explains he was motivated to leave the forest to return her to her parents.
Confirming that Shizuno is correct in that he needs to hurry, Golem reveals that they live for precisely 1000 years, and he has lived 998 years and 253 days. His life functions will cease in one years and 112 days.
Anthole City[]
The two arrive at Anthole City, but Golem finds he is in lack of funds necessary to cross the desert. At the recommendation of a friendly merchant he suggests that the Golem find employment in the city.

Abilities[]
Organic Material Analyst: This power allows him to see "all things are composed of a variety of substances".
Wing-like Appendages: Inside his back are two wing-like appendages; these can be utilized for offensive reasons or to help slow a fall.
Pros: This ability grants an increase in intelligence as well. Throughout the series, he can learn new skills and adjust to them rather quickly.
Cons: There are some factors were his ability fails. If an entity disguises itself he cannot tell who they are or what race they are, as demonstrated when he did not register that Haitora was wearing a costume or was human. Alternatively it may be due to Haitora having corrupted blood.
